For four decades, the sport of off-road racing has been defined by one signature event, the annual Tecate SCORE Baja 1000. The race is one of the world's great motorsports icons, an endurance adventure thankfully unchanged in an often overly sanitized sport. The Baja 1000 and off-road racing shares a heritage as rich and colorful as the diverse group of people and machines have taken the green flag in Ensenada every November since 1967.
On September 27, 2007, the elegant Long Beach Performing Arts Center complex in downtown Long Beach, Calif. will host “40 Years to Glory,” a gala designed to be the largest, most memorable night in the sport’s history. Created as a once-in-a-lifetime celebration of the race’s unmatched legacy and to honor the running of November’s 40th Anniversary Baja 1000, SCORE International’s Sal Fish and Baja historian Marty Fiolka have teamed up to present a very, very special evening.
Tickets to 40 Years to Glory are available on a reserved basis (like a concert), with seats in the Terrace Theater sold on a first come, first served basis. Event tickets are on sale now and can be purchased at the Performing Arts Center box office, or via Ticketmaster or online by CLICKING HERE.
Imagine. In one special night, 40 Years to Glory guests will have a chance to see the largest collection of vintage off-road racing machinery ever assembled. Fans young and old can meet the sport's greatest legends before enjoying a trip through time via a multi-media presentation of live music, videos and live tributes to an incredible list of honorees. And it will be an epic party of food, drinks, live music and a gathering of people in a setting unlike any other.

One ticket is good for all three of the evening's events. The giant "Baja Tailgate Party" in the Performing Art Center's beautiful plaza is first, followed by the incredible 40 Years to Glory stage presentation inside the world-class Terrace Theater. The night will be capped of with the "Baja After Party" back out on the plaza, a time for desert, a celebratory nightcap and plenty of bench racing amongst the cars and stars of the sport.

Additional celebrity appearances, new race vehicle unveilings and 2007 Tecate SCORE Baja 1000 news announcements are also expected to be incorporated into 40 Years to Glory.
For Fish and Fiolka, the creation of 40 Years to Glory has roots based on the highly memorable "1000 Miles to Glory" night held at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles in September of 2000. That evening, which featured 20 historic cars and bikes, along with that year's epic SCORE Baja 2000, is considered by many to be the birthplace of today's resurgence in desert off-road racing. From that single event, Fiolka went on to author his "1000 Miles to Glory" history book, an effort preceding a role as associate producer in Dana Brown's Baja 1000 theatrical film documentary "Dust to Glory."
